Individual Casework

Psychological Consultation

  • When you feel "stuck" and progress seems limited, our individualised consultations focus on collaboratively identifying needs and devising actionable and achievable next steps.

Solution Circles

  • Led by our Educational Psychologists, Solution Circles assemble teachers to collaboratively explore a child's needs and devise effective strategies for progress.

Assessment Services

  • Following consultation, a comprehensive array of assessments is offered to construct a holistic understanding of a young person's needs. Our assessments encompass both standardised and dynamic assessments, with specialised evaluations available for Dyslexia and Dyscalculia.

Young Person Pathway

  • Developed together with the young person and relevant stakeholders, we craft a goal-oriented path that begins with envisioning their future aspirations, assessing their current situation, and creating achievable milestones. This pathway fosters a sense of ownership among all participants.

Whole School Services

Supervision

  • We offer both individual and group supervision for teachers, facilitating knowledge exchange and solution-oriented problem-solving around shared concerns.

Professional Training

  • Grounded in psychological theory, our training sessions cover a broad spectrum of topics, including Trauma and Attachment, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Emotion Coaching, Emotionally Based School Avoidance, and Test Anxiety.

Project Support

  • Our team provides tailored assistance to address school-wide challenges, such as aiding in the execution of improvement plans and developing robust systems and evaluation processes, including a review of Ordinarily Available Provision.

Group Interventions

  • We specialise in delivering and modelling effective group interventions for small cohorts of young people, promoting social and emotional development within a supportive environment.

What Do Others Say?

✺ Frequently asked questions ✺

  • I offer a variety of standardised and non-standardised assessment tools and approaches, including cognitive assessment using WISC-V, more specific neurocognitive testing using the NEPSY-II, dynamic or play-based assessment, attainment testing using the WIAT-III, DASH and PhAB-2, and social and emotional assessment tools including Resiliency Scales and BECK Youth Inventory. I also use a lot of projective and person-centred techniques, and observation. This is not an exhaustive list, and because no two young people are the same, no two assessments are the same – that’s what makes it a hard question to answer and we would always adivse you to get in touch.

  • Yes, I have a wealth of experience of writing reports as part of an EHCP application and continue to complete Locum work for a Local Authority so I am aware of their expectations.

A report from Arise Educational Psychology will help to identify a young person’s needs, which is an essential part of a good EHCP application. It will also provide recommendations that the school can work on implementing and reviewing, which is another important part of the EHCP application process.

  • No, not necessarily. I can see the child wherever it works best for them. If the issues are in school or are affecting their ability to access learning, I find it is usually helpful for me to come into school, even if they are not there, just so I can support recommendations and talk to key staff.

  • Yes, I am able to offer remote assessments. We request a familiar adult is in the room with the child to support them to access the virtual assessment.

  • Yes. Over the past few years, this has become increasingly common. I use Microsoft Teams and find that Teams calls work well in a number of situations. I am aware, however, that this isn’t always the case, and there can be an access issue for parents. The format of meetings will be discussed with you when negotiating the work.

  • Yes, I travel to surrounding Local Authority areas including Bolton, Wigan, Rochdale and Greater Manchester.
